If your University or College doesn’t have an ISCEA University Student Chapter, form a Chapter!

How to form an ISCEA University Student Chapter at your University or College:

  1. Contact IAYSCP (traviscenters@iayscp.org) to inform your interest in forming a student chapter at your university or college. ISCEA will assign a dedicated resource for you to work with to get the chapter setup.
  2. Inform ISCEA the contact information of the founding members. If any of these members plan to hold office, please let ISCEA know about the positions of interest.  (Here are some of the typical positions at ISCEA University Student Chapters: President, Vice President, Secretary, Director of Memberships, and Director of Programs & Events)
  3. ISCEA will activate a Student Chapter at your University or College with a name “ISCEA-your University or College chapter”. For example, “ ISCEA-Ohio State University Chapter”
  4. ISCEA will appoint these founding members to the Chapter leadership positions for a 90-day period. During these 90 days the founding members need to have a meeting to adopt the chapter constitution (ISCEA will provide the by-laws) and vote to make the interim positions permanent.
  5. ISCEA recommend that the founding members contact the University or College, and faculty and get their support. Getting one of the faculty members to act as the ISCEA Student Chapter Advisor is highly desirable. Ask for University or College for a sponsor letter. Ask the faculty member for a letter consent to be the chapter liaison. However, University or College approval and having a faculty advisor is optional.
  6. Once the founding members are recognized by ISCEA, the founding members should develop a website(s) for the ISCEA University Chapter in one or more social networking sites such as Facebook, Linkedin. Here is an example: ISCEA-Alexandria University Chapter
  7. Founding members should then promote the new ISCEA Student Chapter to students and faculty and ask them to join the chapter.
  8. Founding member should organize the 1st networking event within the 90-days of their appointment. This event should be held at the University or at a location very close to the university. The purpose of this networking session to get to know the members and inform them about the ISCEA.  The meeting should be between one hour to two hours. ISCEA will send 15-minute video presentation welcoming the new ISCEA Student Chapter and the Student Chapter Members to the ISCEA family.
  9. Founding members must inform ISCEA the election results of the student chapter board of directors within the 90 days of appointment of the interim board.
  10. ISCEA Student Chapter should work with the ISCEA WHQ resources to develop the ISCEA University Student Chapter and make your experience with ISCEA to be a rewarding one.
